Confidentiality
Each therapy session is confidential following UKCP ethical guidelines.
Part of the psychotherapy process involves supervision where certain aspects of your sessions may be discussed with an accredited and qualified supervisor who is also bound by these confidentiality guidelines.
However, in both cases there are some limitations arising from a legal obligation to protect people from harm.
If there is a concern about the safety or yourself or others around you, this will be discussed in therapy with you before any action is taken.
Therapy Cancellation Policy
An important part of the therapeutic relationship is both parties commitment to attending each session as missed sessions will impact the progress of your therapy.
Therapy sessions are scheduled in advance and are at a time reserved exclusively for one client. When a session is cancelled, it is not possible to fill this time slot by offering it to another client.
It is for both the above reasons that breaks should be kept to a minimum and cancelled sessions will still need to be paid for unless these are pre-planned holiday times with at least 7 days notice.
